Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Supervising News Videotape Editor to lead our dynamic editorial team in crafting compelling visual narratives that inform and engage our audience. In this pivotal role, you will manage the video editing process, ensuring that all footage is edited to the highest standards of quality and storytelling while overseeing the editorial team’s creative direction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of video editors, providing feedback and guidance to enhance their skills and ensure the delivery of high-quality content.
- Oversee the entire video editing process, from initial footage review to final cut, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with producers and reporters to develop engaging story concepts and visual treatments that align with editorial goals.
- Implement and maintain efficient workflows and best practices for video editing and production, leveraging industry-standard software and tools.
- Conduct quality control reviews of edited content, ensuring compliance with broadcast standards and organizational guidelines.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in video production and editing technologies, recommending innovations to enhance our editorial capabilities.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in video editing, with a strong emphasis on news or documentary content.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a fast-paced news environment.
- Expertise in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, or Final Cut Pro.
- Strong understanding of storytelling techniques and the ability to convey complex information visually.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Experience with motion graphics and visual effects software (e.g., After Effects).
- Familiarity with digital asset management systems and collaborative editing tools.
- Knowledge of broadcast regulations and standards.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in industry-standard video editing software and tools, with a deep understanding of file formats and compression techniques.
- Experience with audio editing and mixing to ensure high-quality sound in video productions.
