Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medications to patients, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatment plans and regulatory standards. You will play a crucial role in medication management, supporting both patients and healthcare providers in delivering quality care.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications to patients in accordance with healthcare provider guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient responses, reporting any adverse effects or concerns to healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to review and update medication regimens based on patient needs and clinical guidelines.
- Conduct medication reconciliation and assist in resolving discrepancies in medication orders and administration.
- Educate patients and their families on medication management, including proper usage, potential side effects, and adherence strategies.
- Ensure the safe storage and handling of medications, adhering to all safety and regulatory protocols.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medication Technician or Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a healthcare or medication management role.
- Strong understanding of pharmacology, medication administration routes, and safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a clinical or long-term care setting.
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems and medication management software.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using EHR systems and medication management software.
- Familiarity with pharmacy operations, including inventory management and medication dispensing.
