Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Medical Anthropologist who will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between health systems and the communities they serve. This position will be responsible for leading research initiatives that inform health policy, improve health outcomes, and drive innovation in medical practices. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of cultural practices, healthcare access, and community engagement to provide actionable insights that enhance healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement ethnographic studies to gather in-depth insights into community health behaviors, beliefs, and practices.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends and inform evidence-based health interventions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including healthcare providers, policy makers, and community organizations, to translate research findings into effective health strategies.
- Develop and deliver presentations on research findings to diverse stakeholders, including academic, governmental, and community entities.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers and interns in anthropological research methods and ethical considerations.
- Contribute to the development of grant proposals and funding applications to support ongoing research initiatives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- PhD in Medical Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in medical anthropology or a related research field, with a proven track record of leading successful research projects.
- Strong understanding of qualitative research methodologies and data analysis techniques.
- Experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to cultural humility and ethical research practices.
Preferred:
- Experience in health policy analysis or evaluation.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R) and qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo).
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals demonstrating expertise in medical anthropology.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in ethnographic research design and implementation.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and tools for qualitative and quantitative research.
- Knowledge of health informatics and the use of technology in healthcare settings.
