Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Head of Mandarin Department to lead our educational initiatives and drive the growth of our Mandarin language programs. In this fully remote position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic curriculum enhancements, fostering a culture of excellence in language instruction, and managing a talented team of educators dedicated to student success.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of innovative Mandarin curricula that meet the needs of diverse learners
- Manage and mentor a team of language instructors, providing guidance on best practices in language teaching and assessment
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate Mandarin language instruction across various educational programs
- Analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and drive continuous improvement
- Develop partnerships with external organizations to enhance the reach and impact of the Mandarin program
- Stay current with trends and methodologies in language education, applying insights to elevate program quality
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Education, Linguistics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in language education, with a focus on Mandarin
- Proven track record of leadership and program development in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and pedagogical best practices
- Fluency in Mandarin and English, with excellent communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with remote learning technologies and online teaching platforms
- Familiarity with curriculum development frameworks and assessment strategies
- Experience in a leadership role within a language department or educational organization
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient with learning management systems (LMS), virtual classroom tools, and educational technology
- Ability to leverage data analytics to inform instructional practices
- Experience with curriculum mapping and development tools
