Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Kiln Operations Supervisor to lead our kiln operations team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the efficient and safe operation of our kiln facilities, ensuring product quality and adherence to production schedules. You will be instrumental in optimizing processes, enhancing productivity, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day kiln operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational protocols
- Monitor kiln performance metrics and implement strategies for optimization, including temperature control, ventilation, and energy utilization
- Lead a team of operators, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to enhance skill development and operational efficiency
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of kiln equipment, addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure product quality standards are met and maintained throughout the production process
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions while enhancing product quality
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in kiln operations or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong understanding of kiln processes, materials, and equipment
- Proven experience in implementing safety protocols and ensuring compliance
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision making
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Experience with kiln automation and control systems
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in kiln operation technology and process control systems
- Experience with data analysis tools for monitoring and optimizing kiln performance
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems and equipment troubleshooting
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly
