Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Kitchen Assistant to oversee kitchen operations and support our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality while fostering a collaborative environment within the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to food safety protocols and hygiene standards
- Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, cooking, and plating dishes to meet service demands
- Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels to support kitchen operations
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Collaborate with the head chef to develop and refine menu offerings based on seasonal ingredients and customer feedback
- Ensure equipment and kitchen areas are maintained in optimal condition, reporting any maintenance issues promptly
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
- Proficiency in various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
Preferred:
- Experience in a high-volume kitchen setting
- Culinary training or relevant certifications
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with kitchen management software and inventory tracking tools
- Understanding of nutritional guidelines and dietary restrictions
- Proficient in using kitchen appliances and tools, including food processors, ovens, and grills
