Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kennel Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kennel facility. In this role, you will ensure the highest standards of care for our canine residents while fostering a positive and professional environment for staff and clients alike.
Responsibilities
- Manage the overall operations of the kennel, including staffing, scheduling, and maintenance of facilities
- Ensure all animals receive proper care, including feeding, grooming, exercise, and medical attention as necessary
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals
- Oversee staff training and development, promoting best practices in animal care and customer service
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, vaccinations, and health assessments
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations and industry standards
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, addressing concerns and providing updates on their pets
- Manage budgets, inventory, and supplies to ensure efficient kennel operations
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Proven experience in animal care, with a strong understanding of canine behavior and health
- Prior management experience in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or similar environment
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle a busy kennel environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff and clients
Preferred:
- Certification in animal care or management (e.g., Certified Animal Care Technician)
- Experience with customer relationship management and marketing
- Knowledge of pet training and behavioral management techniques
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Familiarity with kennel management software and scheduling tools
- Basic understanding of pet health care and first aid
- Ability to utilize social media and online platforms for marketing and client engagement
