Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infectious Waste Manager to oversee and optimize the management and disposal of biohazardous materials within our organization. In this role, you will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while implementing best practices for waste management to protect public health and the environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive infectious waste management programs in compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of waste management practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on proper waste segregation, handling, and disposal procedures.
- Collaborate with internal departments to establish effective waste reduction strategies and sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate with external waste disposal vendors to ensure safe and compliant disposal of infectious waste.
- Maintain accurate records of waste generation, disposal, and compliance reporting.
- Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and advancements in waste management technologies.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in waste management, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding infectious waste management.
- Proven ability to develop and implement training programs and policies.
Preferred:
- Certification in Hazardous Waste Management or related field.
- Experience with environmental compliance audits and regulatory reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in data management systems.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in waste management software and compliance tracking systems.
- Familiarity with laboratory practices and safety protocols.
- Experience with incident reporting and risk assessment methodologies.
