Role Overview
We are looking for a visionary Head of History Department to lead our dynamic team in creating an engaging and comprehensive curriculum that fosters a deep understanding of historical events and their relevance to contemporary society. In this fully remote position, you will drive academic excellence, innovation, and strategic direction across our history programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of a forward-thinking history curriculum that reflects diverse perspectives and methodologies
- Oversee faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation to build a high-performing teaching team
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive departmental culture that encourages innovative teaching practices and research initiatives
- Engage with students, faculty, and external stakeholders to promote the value of historical scholarship and its application
- Drive departmental strategic planning, assessment, and continuous improvement processes
- Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation to optimize program effectiveness
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in History or a related field with a strong record of scholarly research
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the college level, with 3 years in a leadership or administrative role
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic settings
- Proven ability to develop and implement innovative curricula and assessment practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for engaging diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in online or hybrid instructional methodologies
- Track record of securing grants or funding for historical research or educational initiatives
- Active involvement in professional organizations related to history education
