Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Grocery Light Truck Driver to join our logistics team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the safe and efficient delivery of grocery products to our customers, ensuring high standards of service and adherence to all regulatory guidelines. You will lead a team of drivers, providing mentorship and guidance while optimizing delivery routes and schedules for maximum efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of grocery light truck drivers, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards
- Plan and optimize delivery routes to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections and maintain accurate logs of repairs and maintenance
- Ensure all deliveries are executed timely while maintaining the integrity of the products
- Train and mentor new drivers on best practices, safety protocols, and customer service excellence
- Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure seamless loading and unloading of products
- Address and resolve any delivery issues or customer complaints in a professional manner
- Utilize GPS and other routing tools to enhance delivery accuracy and efficiency
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience as a commercial driver, with a valid CDL license
- Proven leadership experience in a logistics or delivery environment
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards
- Ability to navigate using GPS and other route-planning tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience in the grocery or food delivery industry
- Familiarity with inventory management systems
- Certifications in defensive driving or transportation safety
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using GPS and route optimization software
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) for tracking driving hours
- Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
