Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Principal Food Preservation Scientist to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive expertise in food science and preservation technologies to lead the development of cutting-edge solutions that enhance food safety and extend shelf life. Responsibilities
- Lead research and development initiatives focused on innovative food preservation methods, including but not limited to thermal processing, refrigeration, and non-thermal techniques.
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate the efficacy of preservation technologies and their impact on food quality, safety, and nutrition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to integrate preservation solutions into new products.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and drive innovation.
- Mentor and guide junior scientists and research staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and collaboration.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at industry conferences to establish thought leadership in the field.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field with a focus on food preservation.
- 10+ years of experience in food preservation research and development, with a proven track record of successful projects.
- Strong knowledge of food microbiology, chemistry, and the principles of food preservation.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and food safety standards (e.g., FDA, USDA).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to research.
Preferred:
- Experience with emerging preservation technologies, such as high-pressure processing, pulsed electric fields, or natural preservatives.
- Strong publication record and experience presenting research findings to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with consumer trends and market needs related to food preservation and sustainability.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in laboratory techniques for food analysis, including microbiological assays and chemical analyses.
- Experience with data analysis tools and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, or MATLAB).
- Knowledge of quality management systems and food safety protocols.
