Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Forensic Fingerprint Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will apply advanced forensic techniques to analyze and compare fingerprint evidence, contributing to criminal investigations and court proceedings. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of fingerprint identification, leveraging both traditional methods and cutting-edge technology.
Responsibilities
- Examine and analyze fingerprint evidence collected from crime scenes, ensuring meticulous attention to detail
- Utilize various forensic tools and techniques for fingerprint enhancement, comparison, and verification
- Prepare comprehensive reports documenting findings and methodologies used during examinations
- Provide expert testimony in court regarding fingerprint analysis and identification
- Stay current with advancements in fingerprint analysis techniques and forensic science
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other forensic specialists to support investigations
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in forensic science, criminal justice, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in fingerprint analysis or forensic science
- Strong understanding of fingerprint identification systems and methodologies
- Proven ability to perform detailed analyses and accurately document findings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and courtroom testimony
Preferred:
- Certification from a recognized forensic organization (e.g., International Association for Identification)
- Experience with digital fingerprint analysis software and databases
- Knowledge of legal standards and procedures related to forensic evidence
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep expertise in traditional fingerprint analysis techniques, including ridgeology
- Proficiency with forensic photography and imaging techniques
- Familiarity with Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS)
- Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of forensic data
