Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Director to lead our environmental strategy and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is essential in guiding our organization towards sustainable practices while mitigating environmental risks and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive environmental compliance programs, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide expert guidance on environmental issues, including waste management, air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental standards into operational processes and business strategies.
- Lead training and awareness programs to promote an understanding of environmental regulations and best practices across the organization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies and manage relationships with external stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies in a timely manner.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, or related fields, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and RCRA.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and develop effective compliance strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information to diverse audiences.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with environmental management systems (EMS) and ISO 14001 certification.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in environmental compliance software and data management systems.
- Familiarity with GIS tools for environmental analysis and reporting.
- Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or CDP.
