Role Overview
We are searching for an Environmental Compliance Manager to join our team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our environmental compliance programs to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an effective environmental compliance program, including policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of operations to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage relationships with external stakeholders
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports and permits in a timely manner
- Lead cross-functional teams in investigating and resolving compliance issues, ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are taken
- Stay current on environmental laws and regulations, as well as industry best practices, to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops to educate employees on environmental compliance and sustainability practices
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations
- Proven track record of successfully managing compliance audits and inspections
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field
- Certification as a Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar credentials
- Experience leading sustainability initiatives and environmental management systems (EMS) implementation
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in environmental compliance management software and data management systems
- Experience with environmental impact assessments and risk management frameworks
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or CDP
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to compliance issues
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building relationships across various organizational levels
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy in documentation and reporting
