Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mortuary Manager to oversee the operations of our funeral home. In this leadership role, you will ensure the highest standards of care and service are provided to families during their time of need, while managing staff and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the mortuary, ensuring all processes are carried out efficiently and compassionately.
- Manage and mentor staff, providing training and support to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Coordinate funeral services and ceremonies, working closely with families to meet their needs and preferences.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to funeral services and mortuary operations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to services provided, including financial transactions and legal forms.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
- Respond to emergency calls and manage on-call responsibilities as needed.
- Foster relationships with community organizations and healthcare providers to promote the services of the funeral home.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the funeral industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Current funeral director license and/or mortuary science degree.
- Strong knowledge of mortuary laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to client interactions.
Preferred:
- Experience in a multi-location funeral home environment.
- Previous experience in business development or community outreach.
- Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in funeral management software and record-keeping systems.
- Knowledge of embalming and restorative art techniques.
- Understanding of grief counseling and support resources.
