Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Professor of Eastern Philosophy to join our esteemed academic institution. In this role, you will contribute to our vibrant academic community by delivering high-quality instruction, engaging in innovative research, and mentoring students in their philosophical explorations. This position primarily focuses on Eastern philosophical traditions, including but not limited to Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Hinduism.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging undergraduate and graduate courses in Eastern Philosophy, ensuring alignment with curricular goals and learning outcomes.
- Conduct original research in Eastern philosophical traditions, contributing to academic journals and conferences.
- Advise and mentor students on academic and career pursuits, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary initiatives and contribute to departmental governance and community engagement.
- Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and assessment activities to enhance the academic experience.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Philosophy or a closely related field with a focus on Eastern Philosophy.
- Demonstrated expertise in Eastern philosophical traditions and their contemporary relevance.
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with positive student evaluations.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and academic community.
Preferred:
- Publications in reputable journals related to Eastern Philosophy.
- Experience with online teaching methodologies and educational technology.
- Ability to engage in interdisciplinary research that connects Eastern Philosophy with other fields.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
