Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Assistant Professor of Creative Writing to join our distinguished faculty. This position is designed for a passionate educator with a strong commitment to fostering student creativity and engagement in a collaborative learning environment. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver courses that inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a love for literature.
Responsibilities
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in creative writing, including fiction, poetry, and non-fiction.
- Mentor students in their writing projects, providing constructive feedback and support for their creative development.
- Engage in scholarly research and creative work, contributing to the field of literature and writing.
- Organize and participate in workshops, readings, and other events that promote student engagement and community involvement.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to enhance the curriculum and foster interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and service activities to support the mission and goals of the department.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Creative Writing or a related field.
- Demonstrated record of published creative work.
- Evidence of effective teaching experience at the college level.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and community engagement.
Preferred:
- Experience with innovative teaching methods and digital platforms.
- Active involvement in the writing community, including participation in literary festivals and organizations.
- Ability to teach diverse genres and styles of creative writing.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for teaching and creative writing, including online course management systems.
- Familiarity with contemporary trends in literature and writing pedagogy.

Location
This position requires a hybrid work arrangement, with faculty expected to be present on campus for classes and departmental activities at least three days a week.
