Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Lead CNC Machinist to join our team, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing CNC machining operations. This position requires an expert in CNC programming, setup, and troubleshooting, with a passion for precision and quality in manufacturing. You will be responsible for mentoring junior machinists and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the machining department.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise CNC machining operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production schedules
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for complex parts using G-code and CAM software
- Conduct machine setup and calibration, and troubleshoot machining issues to ensure efficient operation
- Train and mentor junior machinists on best practices, safety protocols, and CNC operation
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine designs and improve manufacturability
- Maintain accurate documentation of machining processes and reports on production metrics
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience as a CNC machinist, with a focus on leadership and mentoring
- Extensive knowledge of CNC programming, setup, and operation
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
- Experience with CAD/CAM software, such as Mastercam or SolidWorks
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory position within a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
- Certifications in CNC machining or related fields
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in CNC machine operation, including mills and lathes
- Advanced proficiency in G-code programming and CAM software
- Experience with quality control tools and techniques, such as calipers and micrometers
- Understanding of machining simulations and virtual machining technologies
