Advanced Purchasing Engineer – Automotive

Are you passionate about combining engineering knowledge, supplier strategy, and cost optimization in a high-tech environment? We are looking for an Advanced Purchasing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support new customer projects and product developments from concept phase to serial production
• Define sourcing strategies for components and systems in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, manufacturing technologies, and market trends.
• Travel to suppliers and industry fairs to identify innovations and new opportunities.
• Participate in project kick-offs, technical discussions, and customer lead evaluations.
• Represent purchasing in cross-functional project reviews.
• Perform cost assessments, including during early project phases with limited data.
• Manage cost books from concept cost to approved design and serial production cost.
• Support prototype procurement activities and follow-up until start of production.
• Advise engineering and sales teams on approved suppliers, manufacturing methods, and value engineering opportunities.
• Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives and alternative production concepts.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in engineering, Industrial Sciences, or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in purchasing, product development, or cost engineering
• You combine engineering insight with business acumen and have the curiosity to explore new manufacturing technologies.
• Good technical understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to work with incomplete information and translate it into reliable cost indications.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Interest in automotive technologies and market trends
• Willingness to travel to suppliers and industry events.
• Fluent in English; Dutch and German are a plus.
