Online Tutor - Certificate in Supporting Diverse Learners

This is a fixed term engagement covering for maternity leave, ending in December/January 2027. This is a fully remote position and we are open to receiving applications from candidates from anywhere in NZ.
About the role:
We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Online Tutorwith a background in areas related to understanding and supporting development of individuals with specific learning disabilities to facilitate our Certificate in Supporting Diverse Learners (Level 4).
The aim of this programme is to provide understanding of support practices for individuals with specific learning disabilities and other learning support needs in education, the wider community and the workplace, to provide cultural understanding to remove barriers for those with specific learning disabilities and other learning support needs and to support the national movement to provide a better understanding of neurodivergent learners.
A hugely rewarding role, supporting Aotearoa New Zealand across a range of institutional and community settings, to provide opportunities to understand & support the learning and development of individuals with specific learning disabilities.
You will share your experience, skills and training with students from many backgrounds. In this role, you will be in an energetic online asynchronous learning environment where value is placed on delivering outcomes and student engagement.
Some of your key responsibilities will be to:
- Participate in the continuous improvement of course content and learning resources
- Deliver assessments and have an overview of the grading process, ensuring students are evaluated to prescribed national and local qualification standards
- Be available to give subject related support to your Online students, in a caring and encouraging manner via our Online learning platform.
- Keep records of accurate student data, assessment results, student participation, student-at-risk and other required documentation.
About you:
Your own experience will help to bring the theory of Online learning to life for our ākonga.
You must be enthusiastic, positive, patient, and a motivated self-starter who has a passion for sharing knowledge and trying new things. Your exceptional communication and time management skills, along with the ability to connect and build relationships will be the key to your success!
You don’t need any experience in teaching, we will provide you with comprehensive learning and support teaching tools to become successful in your online tutor role.
Ideally, you will have:
- A qualification in an area related to supporting diverse learning needs or equivalent work experience.
- An ability to connect with students through facilitated asynchronous delivery: through our platform’s forums, messaging and live sessions. Must also provide basic pastoral care and support to the students.
- An eagerness to expand your adult teaching skillset as part of your professional development.
- Commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi
- Strong digital literacy with competency in Microsoft 365 Suite
