About Western Organization of Resource Councils
Through groundbreaking technology and collaborative community organizing, we are revolutionizing grassroots advocacy at the Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC). Established in 1979, WORC is a network of grassroots organizations that unites local voices and drives community-led solutions across ten states, including Montana, North Dakota, and Colorado. Our mission is to advocate for a democratic, sustainable, and just society. We achieve this by empowering local leaders to take action on critical issues such as clean energy, environmental protection, and rural vitality.
The importance of local engagement cannot be overstated; it is at the core of what we do. By providing training, resources, and coordination for our member groups, we ensure that over 22,750 members and 38 local chapters are equipped to make their voices heard. We tackle complex problems by promoting grassroots leadership, expanding cultural understanding, and holding corporations and government accountable for their actions. From challenging the effects of climate change on frontline communities to advocating for family farms and sustainable agriculture, WORC strives for meaningful change across the West.
