About the team:
The team drives Project Sparky, an AI-powered chat assistant enhancing shopping experiences on iOS and Android by leveraging generative AI for personalized, context-aware support. It focuses on building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and real-time mobile architectures. Members collaborate closely with AI/ML, backend, and product teams to deliver high-performance, secure solutions. The group emphasizes technical leadership, innovation, and operational excellence while fostering mentorship and continuous improvement. Together, they develop cloud-native platforms that handle large-scale traffic and data, ensuring reliability, extensibility, and alignment with enterprise standards.
What you'll do:
- Lead the architecture and modernization of backend systems, design and implementation of real-time, concurrent, multi-user APIs and granular data repositories
- Direct technical strategy and provide leadership across product and senior engineering, influencing alignment with stakeholders and deliver business value.
- Mentor and guide engineers, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
- Architect optimized distributed systems and micro-services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
- Demonstrate expertise in backend programming languages such as Java, Go/Python.
- Leverage cloud platforms to drive cloud-native transformations and migrations, establishing best practices and technical foundations for large-scale infrastructure.
- Apply strong DevOps, operational & engineering efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and compliance teams to deliver impactful business solutions.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in backend engineering with distributed systems and microservices
- Proven technical leadership across multiple teams or domains, including direct mentorship of senior engineers
- Expertise in backend languages (Java, Go, Python) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Strong DevOps knowledge and architectural vision for large-scale enterprise systems
- Demonstrated ability to drive digital transformation and platform strategy in complex, regulated environments

- 15 + years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
