Responsibilities

As Vista Equity Partners continues to scale, with assets under management exceeding $100 billion, the complexity of the firm’s regulatory, legal, and compliance obligations grows in parallel. The Information Technology team is seeking a Legal & Compliance Technology Business Partner to serve as the dedicated technology liaison for the firm’s Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory teams.

This is an individual contributor role sitting within Vista’s Information Technology team, with a primary support remit across Legal &Compliance. The Business Partner will serve as the day-to-day owner and subject-matter expert for the compliance and legal technology stack—including communications surveillance, archival, regulatory reporting, and policy management platforms. This individual will partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements, drive system implementations and enhancements, ensure regulatory alignment, and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the regulatory environment that governs private equity firms and registered investment advisers, and can translate those requirements into effective technology solutions. They are hands-on, analytically rigorous, an excellent communicator, and motivated to grow within a high-performing and fast-paced organization.

LEGAL & COMPLIANCE TECHNOLOGY OWNERSHIP

  • Own and administer Vista’s compliance and legal technology platforms, including communications surveillance (Behavox), electronic communications archival (Global Relay), policy management, and regulatory reporting tools.
  • Manage day-to-day platform operations including user provisioning, configuration, data retention policies, lexicon tuning, alert management, and vendor coordination.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance and legal teams on technology support, training, and platform troubleshooting.
  • Maintain the legal & compliance tool inventory, track contracts, renewals, and licensing, and flag consolidation or modernization opportunities.
  • Coordinate with technology teams on integrations between legal & compliance platforms and core infrastructure (e.g., Salesforce, Snowflake, data lake, identity management systems).

Support the Firm’s efforts to explore and implement AI-driven automation solutions that streamline manual processes and reduce costs within Legal & Compliance. Deep hands on experience in AI tools such as Claude, Open AI and MS Co-Pilot, and experience in supporting AI Navive systems such as Norm.ai.

REGULATORY AWARENESS AND SYSTEM ALIGNMENT

  • Maintain a working understanding of the regulatory landscape impacting registered investment advisers, private equity firms, and broker-dealers, including SEC, FINRA, and applicable state and international requirements.
  • Translate evolving regulatory requirements into system configuration changes, new platform capabilities, and data retention or reporting enhancements.
  • Ensure that technology implementations and system changes meet compliance, audit, and recordkeeping obligations before deployment.
  • Support regulatory examinations and audits by producing technology-related documentation, data extracts, and system narratives as needed.
  • Monitor vendor regulatory posture and certifications, ensuring third-party platforms remain aligned with firm obligations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Legal & Compliance, and related technology industry standards and best practices through regular peer benchmarking and active participation in industry events

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND DELIVERY

  • Lead or support technology projects from initiation through delivery, including new platform implementations, system migrations, and major enhancements.
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, resource requirements, and risk registers, keeping stakeholders informed through regular status updates.
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams across Legal &Compliance, Information Security, and Technology to ensure seamless execution.
  • Manage vendor relationships and hold third-party providers accountable to delivery milestones, SLAs, and contractual commitments.

BUSINESS ANALYSIS AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

  • Gather, document, and prioritize business requirements from legal and compliance stakeholders, translating them into user stories, process maps, and functional specifications.
  • Understand L&C workflows and availably technology including legal expense management, fund formation and investors on-boarding, investors and entity (fund management), anti-money laundering, privacy, regulatory reporting , control room management, investment transaction for both PE and credit platforms, contracts review, third-party management, document and data archiving and management, and other legal and compliance workflows. Identify workflow gaps, manual processes, and inefficiencies across the legal & compliance technology stack, and partner with technology to improve or automate them through use of AI and automation software.
  • Conduct UAT for system changes, ensuring solutions meet business and regulatory needs before deployment.
  • Track and report on KPIs for the legal & compliance technology stack—including alert volumes, false-positive rates, archival completeness, and review turnaround times—flagging issues proactively.
  • Support change management, documentation, and training as new tools and capabilities are deployed to legal and compliance users.

COLLABORATION AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Build trusted working relationships with senior stakeholders across Legal & Compliance, Information Security, and Operations and collaborate with L&C partners such as CAPS, Finance and Investor Servicing.
  • Partner with the broader Information Technology team on initiative prioritization, delivery planning, and operational support.
  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders on project status, emerging risks, regulatory changes with technology implications, and upcoming system changes.
  • Actively contribute to team meetings, stand-ups, and retrospectives, and help cultivate a culture of continuous improvement within the technology function.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives at the intersection of financial services regulation, technology, and operational excellence. They possess a strong understanding of the compliance and legal workflows that govern a private equity firm and can bridge the gap between regulatory requirements and technology solutions with confidence. They are a self-starter who takes ownership of complex, cross-functional initiatives and communicates with equal fluency to lawyers, compliance officers, and engineers.

Beyond technical capability, this individual brings the interpersonal qualities that matter in a high-performing team environment. They are collaborative, low-ego, and self-aware, with a natural ability to build trust and credibility across a diverse set of stakeholders—including senior attorneys, the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Legal Officer, and external regulators. They exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive and confidential matters. Strong cultural alignment with Vista’s values and team dynamic is essential.

  • 10+ years of experience in a business analyst, technology business partner, compliance operations, or technology support role within financial services, asset management, private equity, or a related regulated industry.
  • Hands-on experience with communications surveillance and electronic communications archival systems (Behavox and Global Relay strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory environment governing registered investment advisers and private equity firms, including SEC, FINRA, and relevant state and international regulations.
  • Strong private equity or investment management knowledge, including familiarity with fund structures, deal lifecycle, investor reporting, and the operational needs of legal and compliance functions within an alternative asset manager.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (preferably Salesforce), compliance case management systems, and reporting or analytics tools (e.g., PowerBI, Sigma, or Excel).
  • Proven project management skills, including experience managing technology implementations end-to-end, with the ability to juggle multiple concurrent workstreams with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather business requirements, document user stories or functional specifications, and support technology delivery in a compliance or legal context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to distill complex regulatory or technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, and to communicate with precision and discretion on sensitive matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business administration, finance, legal studies, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with data privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and information security concepts as they relate to compliance technology is a strong plus.
  • Ability to exercise the highest degree of discretion and appropriate handling of confidential, privileged, and sensitive information.

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $150,000 - $220,000. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be perfomed and the applicant’s skill set.
