We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to accurately assign medical codes and support the claims process. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with medical coding systems and familiarity with Athenahealth. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of coding guidelines, and the ability to collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation.
Enter and manage coded data and claims in Athenahealth.
Ensure coding practices comply with payer guidelines and HIPAA regulations.
Review medical records for completeness and accuracy of documentation.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify or resolve documentation discrepancies.
Maintain accuracy and efficiency in coding while meeting productivity standards.
Qualifications:
At least 2 years of medical coding experience.
Hands-on experience or familiarity with Athenahealth.
Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently in a remote environment (if applicable).
