About the role

The industry's leading independent advertising management company, Viamedia offers centralized management of advertising sales across any screen – television, digital or mobile. As a Staff Accountant, you will own routine general ledger accounting work — journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions — that supports the timely and accurate close process across Viamedia and its subsidiaries. In this role you will partner closely with the Assistant Controller and serve as a key contributor to month-end close, internal controls, and external audit, while building backup capability for AP and cash functions to strengthen the team's operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Ability to operate effectively in a deadline-driven, multi-entity environment with competing priorities
  • Prepare and post recurring and ad-hoc journal entries in support of monthly close
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations including cash, accruals, prepaids, and intercompany
  • Maintain the fixed asset subledger in NetSuite, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliation to the general ledger
  • Process intercompany transactions and reconcile balances between Viamedia and LFG entities monthly
  • Support partner accrual reconciliations in coordination with the Director, Finance and Assistant Controller
  • Assist with state and local tax filings under Assistant Controller supervision
  • Assist with payroll timesheet approval follow-ups to support timely and accurate payroll processing
  • Prepare audit support schedules and respond to PBC requests during the year-end external audit
  • Serve as backup for the AP Accountant for daily AP work and 1099 preparation
  • Serve as the owner of the cash processes including daily bank reconciliation
  • Participate in process improvement work including ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and playbook documentation
  • Maintain a current playbook for the Staff Accountant role covering monthly close journal entry list, balance sheet reconciliation procedures, fixed asset subledger maintenance, intercompany reconciliation steps, audit PBC playbook, and AP/cash backup procedures
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and compliance with GAAP
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Desired Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including month-end close ownership
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP system
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, lookups, and advanced formulas
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and internal control concepts
  • CPA or CPA-track preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels within and outside the organization
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities, be self-motivating, enthusiastic and diplomatic
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively by telephone, in writing, and in person
