POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Head of Operations will oversee day-to-day business operations and ensure the efficient, high-quality delivery of services across departments. This includes direct leadership of the Sales and Professional Services functions. You will be responsible for building the pipeline of Professional Services implementation and custom software projects, execution of the project delivery, and the ongoing financial and operational reporting while driving continuous improvement and operational discipline.
This role also involves leading key business transformation efforts, modernizing systems and processes with the use of AI, elevating organizational execution, and up-leveling the talent throughout the company. You will spearhead initiatives such as the development and implementation AI-driven cost efficiencies and the rollout of new offerings including AI-led products and integrated payment solutions, ensuring these innovations are strategically introduced and effectively executed across existing customer base and beyond.
As a senior member of the leadership team, the Head of Operations will also play an external-facing role, engaging with key county and municipal government leaders, supporting business development efforts, and strengthening customer relationships.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator who combines analytical rigor with strategic thinking, executional discipline, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Manage daily operations across key business functions to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with strategic objectives
- Implement and refine operational processes and reporting systems to drive accountability and visibility across the organization
- Identify and execute improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, scalability, and customer satisfaction
Professional Services Management
- Lead the Professional Services organization, ensuring projects are scoped, tracked, and delivered on time and on budget
- Optimize resource utilization and forecasting to balance client demand with capacity
- Establish and monitor KPIs for project delivery, utilization, and client satisfaction
- Direct responsibility for building the pipeline of PS projects and maintaining an up to date short and long term forecast
Strategic Initiatives & Innovation
- Spearhead key cross-functional initiatives, including the introduction of AI-based capabilities within product and service offerings
- Lead the sales and commercial roll-out of integrated payment solutions to the existing customer base
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful adoption, training, and performance measurement of new initiatives.
Sales & Client Engagement
- Act as a senior representative of the organization in interactions with county and municipal government leaders, building trusted partnerships and ensuring client success
- Support business development efforts by contributing to strategic proposals, client presentations, and contract renewals
- Collaborate with sales and customer success teams to identify opportunities for growth, retention, and expanded solution adoption
- Represent the company at key industry events and conferences to strengthen its brand and market presence
Financial Oversight
- Partner with the Portfolio Manager to monitor budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance
- Analyze operational and financial data to identify opportunities for efficiency, margin expansion, and revenue growth
- Provide data-driven insights to guide strategic and operational decisions
Talent and Performance Management
- Build and lead a strong team focused on operational excellence and customer success
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports; improve overall talent density through performance management and targeted exits and new hiring
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
About You
- 5–7 years of experience in operations, professional services, or business management roles—preferably within a software or technology company.
- Minimum of 2 years of people management experience, with demonstrated success leading and developing teams.
- Strong financial literacy with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and operational KPIs.
- Hands-on leadership style with a focus on process optimization, problem-solving, and execution.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and drive initiatives from strategy to delivery.
- Experience engaging directly with external clients or public-sector stakeholders; sales or business development exposure is highly valuable.
- An ideal background combines Management Consulting experience with in-house operational leadership, providing the skills to drive meaningful business transformation.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort operating in a decentralized, entrepreneurial environment.
