The Jr. SIM Engineer is responsible for supporting SIM and device engineering operations for large scale wireless environments. The role focuses on SIM lifecycle tasks, provisioning activities, device activation support, troubleshooting, operational monitoring, and ensuring seamless SIM-related service delivery.
This position works closely with senior SIM engineers, device engineering teams, and cross functional operational groups to maintain accuracy, quality, and high availability across the SIM ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. SIM Provisioning & Lifecycle Support
- Execute SIM and device provisioning activities as defined under SIM & Device Engineering Operations.
- Assist in SIM activation, deactivation, replacement, and updates as part of daily operational workflows.
- Perform routine SIM configuration tasks while adhering to project defined SLAs and quality standards.
2. Operational Monitoring
- Monitor SIM and device systems for performance, errors, and malfunction indicators.
- Conduct health checks on SIM profiles and provisioning workflows to support reliable operations.
- Review system alerts, identify deviations, and escalate issues to senior engineers when necessary.
3. Issue Identification & Troubleshooting
- Support first level analysis of SIM related incidents in collaboration with senior SIM engineers.
- Document issues, gather relevant logs, perform basic diagnostics, and escalate to engineering/operations leads as required.
- Provide timely updates on troubleshooting progress and ensure issues follow proper resolution workflows.
4. Data & Operations Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of SIM operations, provisioning results, and workflow changes.
- Update internal logs, trackers, and reports essential for daily operations and audits.
- Support documentation of new processes or updates received from the SIM engineering team.
5. Collaboration & Cross Functional Coordination
- Work closely with device engineering, operations, and customer facing teams to support SIM processes.
- Assist in validating SIM operations during device onboarding or rollout activities.
- Participate in internal discussions, clarifying issues and supporting continuous improvements in SIM management.
6. Compliance & Best Practices
- Ensure all SIM operations follow organization approved methods, security practices, and compliance controls.
- Assist in enforcing configuration standards and adhering to project-specific workflows.
- Support updates to operational procedures and participate in knowledge sharing sessions. 8
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
- Understanding of SIM technologies, telecom concepts, or wireless network fundamentals.
- Basic knowledge of provisioning systems, device activation processes, or telecom OSS/BSS flows.
- Ability to perform structured troubleshooting and follow escalation guidelines.
- Strong documentation, communication, and coordination skills.
- Eagerness to learn SIM engineering practices and adapt in a fast paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with SIM lifecycle management tools or mobile network systems.
- Knowledge of eSIM, SIM profile management, or OTA provisioning methods.
- Experience with ticketing tools (ServiceNow/Jira) or operational monitoring platforms.
- Exposure to device engineering or telecom operational support environments.
