Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism, established in 1997, is a pioneering feminist grantmaking organization that provides rapid, flexible financial support to women, trans, and non-binary activists facing critical moments in their struggle for justice. Formerly known as Urgent Action Fund for Women's Human Rights, the organization has deployed over $28 million in rapid response grants to more than 4,000 activists across 131 countries, enabling feminist movements to respond swiftly to unexpected threats and opportunities. When time is of the essence, UAF delivers funds within 72 hours - often within just 1-7 days - allowing frontline defenders to protect themselves, advance their advocacy, and sustain their vital work against oppression.

As part of a global consortium of four independent Sister Funds spanning Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean, UAF for Feminist Activism focuses its grantmaking across the Middle East, Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Turkey, Central Asia, Russia, Canada, and the United States. The organization's holistic approach goes beyond funding, addressing the collective care and security needs of human rights defenders while building resilient movements capable of challenging systemic injustice. By centering feminist principles of shared power, trust, and rapid response, UAF ensures that resources flow directly to those most positioned to create transformative social change in their communities.
