Senior Accountant, Compensation & Equity
Base pay range: $90,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr
A UHY client is seeking a Senior Accountant, Compensation & Equity to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a valid CPA license, experience with stock/equity/payroll and 2+ years experience in public accounting. The role is remote and client direct hire.
Job Responsibilities
- Take ownership of accounting for equity, stock-based compensation, and payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
- Drive the month-end close process with a goal of consistently achieving a 1–2 week close timeline.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to design, document, and enhance processes, internal controls, and reporting in alignment with public company readiness.
- Apply technical accounting expertise to provide insightful guidance on complex issues and support sound decision-making.
- Work cross-functionally with HR, FP&A, and senior leadership to ensure alignment and efficiency in payroll and equity-related processes.
- Lead and contribute to strategic projects aimed at strengthening the accounting infrastructure and supporting scalable growth.
Qualifications
- CPA required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 2+ years in public accounting (Big 4 strongly preferred) plus 2–3 years of industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP with exposure to equity and payroll accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, less structured, startup-like environment.
- Proactive, curious, and eager to learn new areas of accounting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust within the team.
