We're on the lookout for a Mid Applied Researcher to take on a pivotal role in our team, working with Our biggest client.

What you will do:

• Bridge cutting-edge research and real-world applicationsby designing and implementing modern LLM fine-tuning and optimization approaches.

• Focus on applied research projectsincluding retrieval-augmented systems (RAG), multimodal modeling, and large-scale learning for e-commerce.

• Work on algorithms from the idea stage to deployment, building robust experimentation pipelines and evaluation frameworks for production-ready AI.

• Interact directly with our partners, collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to bring research prototypes into the eBay ecosystem.

• Contribute to Core AI strategyby taking ownership of research components and delivering measurable impact on product-facing systems.

• Collaborate with world-class researchersto contribute to technical discussions, documentation, and internal thought leadership.

Experience and skills you need to join us:

• Strong research foundationin NLP, LLMs, neural architectures, and modern training/fine-tuning methodologies.

• Team-work attitudewith a clear technical communication mindset and the ability to work independently on well-scoped problems.

• Hands-on coding skillswith proven experience in implementing, evaluating, and scaling machine learning models.

• Data-based problem-solving skills, specifically the ability to translate complex technical work into business impact and quantifiable results.

• Analytical thinkingand a structured approach to solving research challenges.

• Fluency in English, as you will be an integral part of an international, English-speaking environment.

It would be great if you also have:

• PhD or Master’s degreein Computer Science, AI, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.

• Experience in e-commerceor working with large-scale consumer platforms.

• Familiarity with evaluation methodologiesspecifically designed for LLM-based and agentic systems.

• Publication track recordor interest in contributing to technical artifacts and machine learning venues.

• Growth mindsetand the ambition to increase your technical ownership within the Core AI domain.
