Sia is a decentralized cloud storage platform that leverages blockchain technology to enable users to rent storage space on an open marketplace. This innovative system empowers individuals and businesses to take full control of their data while ensuring privacy and security. Unlike traditional cloud storage solutions that typically involve centralized data centers and may expose users to privacy risks, Sia allows users to store their information in a distributed manner across a network of hosts.

The Sia network operates by facilitating direct transactions between buyers and sellers of storage, eliminating middlemen and associated costs. This model not only enhances data privacy but also reduces costs significantly—users can expect to spend 90% less on storage compared to conventional providers. For just $1-2 per month, users can store 1 TB of data, making Sia an economically attractive alternative. The foundation of the system is built on cryptographic protocols that guarantee file encryption and redundancy, meaning that individual files are split and distributed across multiple hosts, ensuring data remains safe and accessible.
