Job Description: Refrigeration Engineer

Location: Flexible, based anywhere in East or Southern Africa. Preference will be given to candidates located in Kenya or Zimbabwe, though applications from other locations, including South Africa, are welcome

Type of employment: We offer flexibility in the employment arrangement, whether on a freelance or fixed-contract basis

Compensation: Salary will be paid in USD or EUR (gross).We do not have a fixed salary and will determine the benchmark based on applicants current earnings and experience.

We are seeking a qualified Refrigeration Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and installation of cooling systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a passion for innovation, and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions in a commercial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, install, and maintain commercial refrigeration and cooling systems.
• Conduct system diagnostics, performance evaluations, and troubleshooting as needed.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement efficient refrigeration solutions tailored to client needs.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout the installation and operational phases.
• Ensure compliance with local and international safety and environmental regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for all projects.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in refrigeration technology and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Educational Requirements:
  • A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering, or a related technical field (BSc or equivalent).
• Professional Experience:
  • 35 years of proven experience in the design and installation of commercial refrigeration systems (experience in residential systems is not ideal for this role).
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in refrigeration design software and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, components, and controls.
  • Familiarity with international standards and codes of practice for refrigeration.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel within East and Southern Africa as required.
