The Role: Lead DevOps Engineer (GCP)

The Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) exists to drive reliability and scalability across production environments by leading an SRE team and implementing automation and DevOps practices. The role ensures system uptime, efficiency, and performance while mentoring others and embedding a culture of engineering excellence. The main focus areas include technical authority on SRE practices for GCP, CI/CD pipeline optimization, and infrastructure as code.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of SRE engineers with a minimum of 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.
• Act as the technical authority on SRE practices for GCP to ensure system reliability and uptime.
• Design, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GCP-native tools and industry standards.
• Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools such as Terraform or Deployment Manager.
• Drive monitoring and observability initiatives leveraging tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Stackdriver.
• Troubleshoot complex production incidents to ensure root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent platform performance.

About You

• Minimum 3 years in a management/leadership capacity within SRE/DevOps teams.
• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience working on GCP infrastructure and services.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration at scale.
• Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager.
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Shell.
• UNIX/Linux administration expertise.
• Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect are highly advantageous.
