About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior WordPress Developer to contribute to the development, optimization, and long-term stability of our WordPress ecosystem. This role requires deep technical expertise in WordPress architecture, backend development in PHP, and performance- focused implementation across front-end and infrastructure layers.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones and play a key role in maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing digital platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and maintain highly customized WordPress applications
• Develop custom themes and plugins to support evolving business requirements
• Integrate third-party APIs, services, and plugins
• Ensure high availability, security, and performance of WordPress sites
• Optimize front-end and back-end performance
• Manage deployments and production stability
• Maintain WordPress core and plugin updates while preventing conflicts
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across the stack
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
• WordPress environments are stable, secure, and performant
• Custom functionality is built cleanly and sustainably
• Deployments are predictable and low-risk
• Cross-team collaboration is smooth and effective
• Technical debt is reduced over time

Experience and Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience with PHP
• 4+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience
• Strong experience building and maintaining highly customized WordPress environments
• Experience developing custom WordPress themes and plugins
• Solid understanding of WordPress core, hooks, REST API, and best practices
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript
• Experience with Git-based workflows
• Experience working in Linux environments
• Experience deploying and managing WordPress in AWS environments (EC2, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Experience collaborating with distributed, international teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Jira or similar project management tools
• Experience with caching strategies and CDN implementations
• Experience with headless WordPress architectures
• Understanding of SEO best practices in WordPress
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership mentality
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or similar code-generation platforms) to improve development efficiency and code quality
