Terradot

In 2022, Terradot emerged from Stanford University's Soil and Environmental Biogeochemistry Lab with a transformative vision: to accelerate Earth's most powerful natural carbon removal process. The founders recognized that rock weathering has been sequestering carbon from the atmosphere for millions of years, and they set out to transform this slow natural phenomenon into a scalable climate solution. By developing enhanced rock weathering (ERW) technology, Terradot crushes natural silicate rock to expose reactive surface area, then spreads it across working farmland where it reacts with rainwater to permanently convert atmospheric CO2 into bicarbonate stored in the ocean for 10,000+ years.

Terradot has quickly established itself as a leader in the carbon removal space, developing the world's largest ERW projects and building a subsurface intelligence platform that finds optimal project sites, optimizes deployment, and systematically measures, reports, and verifies every tonne removed. The company operates the most comprehensive scientific monitoring program ever conducted at a commercial ERW site at their Sentinel Site in Brazil. With a team of over 20 PhDs advancing the science of enhanced rock weathering, Terradot has secured $58.2 million in funding from investors including Google, Microsoft, Kleiner Perkins, and Floodgate. Their landmark partnerships include a $27 million deal facilitated by Frontier and a megaton-scale project with Google covering over 200,000 hectares in Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul, aiming to deliver 1 million tonnes of climate impact by 2030.
