Role Overview
As a Payroll Administrator, you will support accurate, timely payroll processing and help maintain the records and controls that keep payroll running smoothly. This is an early-career role (0–3 years) ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working with sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with end-to-end payroll processing on a recurring schedule (e.g., weekly/biweekly), ensuring accuracy and on-time completion
Collect, review, and enter payroll inputs such as hours worked, overtime, PTO, bonuses, and deductions
Validate payroll data by reconciling timesheets, reviewing exception reports, and resolving discrepancies
Support onboarding and offboarding payroll tasks, including setting up new hires and processing final pay as needed
Maintain accurate employee payroll records and documentation in accordance with internal procedures
Respond to employee payroll questions with professionalism and discretion; escalate complex issues when appropriate
Assist with payroll-related reporting, audits, and periodic reconciliations
Help ensure payroll practices align with applicable policies and basic compliance requirements (e.g., record retention, confidentiality)
Contribute to process documentation and continuous improvement (checklists, SOPs, templates) to reduce errors and improve cycle time
Required Qualifications
0–3 years of experience in payroll administration, HR operations, accounting support, or a related role (internships welcome)
Working knowledge of payroll fundamentals (gross-to-net concepts, deductions, timekeeping inputs, pay cycles)
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work under deadlines
High integrity and discretion when handling confidential employee and compensation information
Comfort working with spreadsheets and basic data tasks (sorting, filters, simple formulas)
Clear written and verbal communication skills and a service-oriented approach to employee support
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with payroll systems and/or timekeeping tools (any platform); ability to learn new systems quickly
Exposure to multi-state payroll or multiple pay groups
Experience supporting audits, reconciliations, or payroll reporting
Familiarity with documenting processes and maintaining checklists for repeatable workflows

Payroll is processed accurately and on time with minimal corrections
Timesheet and payroll discrepancies are identified early and resolved efficiently
Employee questions are handled promptly, clearly, and confidentially
Payroll records and documentation are complete, organized, and audit-ready
Processes become more consistent over time through improved documentation and controls
