We are seeking a skilled Sr Database Platform Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud-based Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) solutions leveraging SS&C Cloud Services. You will utilize your proficiency in Golang and scripting languages to implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Temporal, Terraform and SaltStack, facilitating the establishment of robust DBaaS offerings encompassing PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and other databases. Additionally, you will employ containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Helm for application deployment and management, integrating monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and InfluxDB to ensure system health and performance.

Responsibilities:

- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure solutions leveraging SS&C Cloud Services.

- Enable self-service provisioning of PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and other databases, including setup, configuration, upgrading/patching, monitoring, and problem-solving.

- Develop automation scripts for database infrastructure to streamline operations and ensure consistency.

- Implement standard methodologies for disaster recovery (DR) and backups to ensure data integrity and availability.

- Deploy and oversee resilient database implementations in cloud environments, focusing on enhancing performance and scalability.

- Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles with Terraform, Temporal and SaltStack to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.

- Implement GitOps practices to ensure reliable and efficient continuous delivery of infrastructure changes.

- Utilize containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Helm) for deploying and managing applications.

- Implement and manage monitoring and observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB, etc.) to ensure system health and performance.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Cloud Engineering, Network, and DevOps/Solutions Engineering) to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues.

- Monitor system performance and reliability; implement necessary improvements and optimizations.

- Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies; recommend and assist with the evaluation of new tools and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• 3+ years of experience building scalable distributed systems using AWS or other cloud technologies (compute orchestrators, containers, hypervisors, database storage).
• Expertise in PostgreSQL, including database replication, high availability strategies, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with database proxy solutions, Kubernetes operators, and tools from the Percona toolkit.
• Strong development skills in Golang, Bash, and/or Python, with a focus on automation.
• Expertise in database infrastructure setup, configuration, upgrading, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience implementing disaster recovery and backup methodologies.
• Proficiency in monitoring and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, and related tools.
• Solid background in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Temporal, Terraform, and Ansible/SALT, with proficiency in GitOps methodologies.
• Experience with containerization technologies and Kubernetes orchestration.
• General networking knowledge, including load balancing, network security, and standard protocols.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows OS, including shell scripting (bash, ksh, csh).

Educational Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
