About the Role
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in building and scaling a digital health platform that combines web applications, connected medical devices, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role spanning full stack development, platform engineering, DevOps, integrations, and security. You will work within a lean engineering team, collaborating closely with Product and senior leadership to deliver roadmap priorities at pace.
You will contribute across a connected ecosystem that includes: Web applications and digital health journeys, Data pipelines and insight capabilities, NHS and third-party integrations, Cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines and Security, compliance, and release discipline
This role requires someone who can balance feature delivery with infrastructure, reliability, and security, operating effectively in a fast-paced, scale-up environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver priority roadmap features across frontend and backend systems
- Develop and maintain applications using Node.js, React, and TypeScript
- Support and enhance NHS and third-party integrations
- Contribute to scalable, reusable platform architecture
- Maintain and optimise cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- Improve monitoring, logging, and system observability
- Strengthen deployment reliability and platform stability
- Implement and support security improvements and secure coding practices
- Ensure alignment with compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO27001)
- Improve engineering quality and release discipline by: Reducing defect leakage, Strengthening testing practices and
- Supporting test-first / automated testing approaches
- Collaborate with Product and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into pragmatic technical solutions
- Work across multiple concurrent workstreams and manage priorities effectively
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in full stack software engineering
- Strong experience with modern JavaScript stack (Node.js, React, TypeScript)
- Hands-on experience with DevOps / platform engineering, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure management, and deployment processes
- Experience working in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred)
- Experience with relational databases
- Strong understanding of application security and secure coding practices
- Experience with automated testing and test-first development approaches
- Experience improving system observability (monitoring and logging)
- Experience enhancing platform reliability, scalability, and performance
- Proven experience in fast-paced, scale-up or startup environments
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex, real-world technical challenges
- Ability to operate with high autonomy in a lean team environment
- Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with healthcare platforms or regulated environments (NHS exposure)
- Familiarity with: MySQL, AWS CDK, GitHub & GitHub Actions, Amplify, Cognito, ECS, Docker and Lambda
- Experience designing resilient distributed systems across multi-AZ environments
- Experience contributing to ISO27001 / GDPR compliance initiatives
- Experience improving QA processes and release governance
- Exposure to data platforms, health data, or connected device ecosystems
