About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer to work directly with customers across multiple sectors, delivering cloud transformation projects in Microsoft Azure. You’ll take ownership of designing, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and automated Azure environments — leveraging infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD, and DevOps best practices.
This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on Azure experience and a passion for automation, cloud security, and architectural excellence. You’ll play a key part in helping customers modernize their infrastructure while ensuring compliance with best practice frameworks such as the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and configure Azure resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or equivalent automation frameworks.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions to automate resource deployment and configuration across customer environments.
  • Take technical ownership of project delivery, ensuring timely, high-quality implementations.
  • Align all deployment activities with Azure Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework best practices.
  • Optimise future deployments by developing reusable templates aligned with Enterprise-Scale Landing Zones, secure configurations, and governance standards.
  • Ensure all deployments adhere to security best practices and compliance standards, including NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and customers to translate business needs into reliable, automated cloud infrastructure.
  • Support post-deployment validation, monitoring, and performance tuning of Azure environments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure; experience with other public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Oracle Cloud) will also be considered.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
  • Working knowledge of Bicep for native Azure resource provisioning.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption and Well-Architected Frameworks.
  • Background in DevOps-focused project delivery using IaC principles.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or equivalent certification.
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles in public cloud environments.
  • Experience configuring and managing firewalls, including Azure PaaS and 3rd-party network virtual appliances.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.

Nice to Have

  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert certification.
  • Broader multi-cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Oracle).
  • Experience developing enterprise-grade security and governance templates.
  • Familiarity with automation scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • Exposure to containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure monitoring tools.

Benefits

  • Fixed Shifts: 12:00 PM - 9:30 PM IST (Summer) | 1:00 PM - 10:30 PM IST (Winter)
  • No Weekend Work: Real work-life balance, not just words
  • Day 1 Benefits: Laptop and full medical insurance provided
  • Support That Matters:Mentorship, community, and forums where ideas are shared
  • True Belonging: A long-term career where your contributions are valued
At Smart Working, you’ll never be just another remote hire.
Be a Smart Worker — valued, empowered, and part of a culture that celebrates integrity, excellence, and ambition.
If that sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to hear your story.
