Scribd - Sr Backend Engineer(Payments)

Scribd is looking for a Sr Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate backend services for subscription payments at a global scale. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in building and scaling distributed systems for financial workloads, with strong coding skills in Ruby and knowledge of SQL and NoSQL.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Deep expertise in building and scaling distributed systems for financial or mission-critical workloads
• Strong foundation in data modeling, transactional consistency, and high-throughput architectures
• Hands-on SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with NoSQL and caching
• Strong coding ability in Ruby with a focus on clean, maintainable, and secure code
• Clear communication and collaboration skills across product, finance, risk, and platform teams
