About Silvaco, Inc.
For over three decades, Silvaco, based in Silicon Valley, California and with global locations around the world has solved semiconductor design challenges by offering affordable and competitive TCAD (Technology Computer Aided Design) software, EDA (Electronic Design Automation) software, proven design IP (intellectual property), and world class support to engineers and researchers across the globe. Silvaco solutions span from atoms to systems: starting with simulation of material behavior impacting semiconductor devices, to design and analysis of transistor circuits, and lastly providing IP blocks for systems-on-chip (SoC) designs. Our solutions are deployed in production flows across broad industry segments such as leading display companies, automotive OEM suppliers, and top Memory, 5G, and IoT (internet of things) providers.
Silvaco is seeking talented and motivated interns to join our Foundation IP Team. This program is designed to introduce interns to Standard Cell Library Design using cutting-edge FinFET technologies, empowering them with hands-on experience in industry-leading tools such as Cello and Viola.
Interns will play a crucial role in Standard Cell Creation, Characterization, and Quality Assurance (QA) flow development, contributing to Silvaco’s innovation while gaining valuable insight into library production workflows.
*This Internship is 100% remote and can be up to one year
INTERNS WILL BE TRAINED IN:
- Understanding design rules from Foundry Design Rule Manuals (DRM).
- Representing foundry design rules in Cello technology format.
- Collaborating closely with Support and R&D teams to enhance library production.
- Validating library views using standard signoff tools, including:
- GDS
- CDL netlist
- PEX netlist
- LEF
- Liberty
- Verilog
- Developing a QA flow for library validation to ensure seamless compatibility with Synthesis and Place & Route flows.
PROGRAM BENEFITS:
This internship provides numerous advantages for both Silvaco and the intern:
- Supports Foundation IP Team by adding redundancy and mitigating knowledge loss due to attrition.
- Allows current staff to focus on advanced customer-related projects.
- Provides critical feedback to the R&D team, aiding future product development.
- Offers Silvaco tools access to university graduates, preparing them for industry challenges.
- Brings fresh perspectives and enthusiasm from young engineers.
- Potential additional support for East Asia, particularly given interest from the National University of Singapore.
WHAT INTERNS WILL LEARN:
Interns will gain valuable skills, including:
- Understanding the digital design flow and its applications.
- Designing and building standard cells at the transistor level (FinFETs).
- Simulating and optimizing standard cells for performance and efficiency.
- Utilizing Cello to accelerate standard cell library creation.
- Applying Viola for standard cell library characterization.
- Developing and implementing QA flows to ensure design integrity.
- Working directly with R&D teams to provide feedback on tool features and enhancements.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Master's or Ph.D level students (or pursuing Master's/Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of CMOS circuit design and optimization concepts.
- Excellent communication skills in English and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in programming languages, preferably TCL, C++, Perl, Python.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with layout design concepts.
The US base hourly ratefor this Intern position is $30.00 hr - $37.00 hr. Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and the range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, role-related knowledge and skills, depth of experience, relevant education or training, and additional role-related considerations.
