Cyber Security Systems Engineer

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Sev1Tech is hiring a Cyber Security Systems Engineer to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and compliant infrastructure for a hybrid cloud environment. Supporting a newly awarded contract, this role is critical in ensuring alignment with CMMC Level 2, NIST 800-172, and other federal cybersecurity frameworks.

This individual will define system and network architectures that span on-prem, AWS, Azure Gov, GCC High, and CRMA environments while implementing best-in-class cybersecurity practices such as segmentation, zero trust, encryption, and federated identity management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and architect secure network and system infrastructure in support of CMMC and NIST compliance requirements
• Evaluate, implement, and integrate technologies to support network segmentation, data encryption, and data loss prevention (DLP)
• Support transition planning and technical implementation of infrastructure and services to Microsoft GCC High as required
• Architect and oversee deployment of federated identity management solutions, including RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and Zero Trust Architecture
• Validate secure integration of multiple platforms and environments, including on-premise infrastructure, AWS, Azure Gov, and CRMA systems
• Develop architectural documentation, security design diagrams, and SOPs for security engineering solutions
• Provide subject matter expertise on security architecture principles, frameworks, and emerging technologies
• Collaborate with security and IT teams to define technical standards and guide implementation of compliant solutions
• Conduct architecture reviews, threat modeling, and security impact assessments for existing and future systems
• Align technical decisions with overall security governance, policy, and business objectives
• Maintain awareness of federal cybersecurity initiatives and technologies affecting architecture design and compliance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Salary: $125,000 - $140,000 DOE

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Systems Architecture, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in system/network engineering with 3+ years focused on cybersecurity architecture
• Strong understanding of CMMC Level 2, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-172, and federal compliance requirements
• Experience designing and securing hybrid cloud architectures including on-prem, AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, and GCC High
• Hands-on experience with security technologies including identity management, RBAC, encryption, network segmentation, and zero trust architecture
• Deep knowledge of federated authentication protocols such as SAML, OAuth, OIDC, and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS)
• Demonstrated experience implementing or transitioning environments to GCC High
• Familiarity with CRMA systems and secure integration strategies
• Strong documentation skills and ability to develop architecture diagrams and technical design artifacts
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Desired Qualifications

• CISSP, CCSP, AWS/Azure Certified Security Architect, CISM, Security+, or related architecture and security certifications
