Schwan's Company is a prominent American food company with a rich history dating back to 1952. It was founded by Marvin Schwan, who began a home-delivery service for his family's homemade ice cream in rural Minnesota. This modest start evolved into a multibillion-dollar enterprise known for its wide array of frozen food products. For decades, the company operated as a privately held, family-owned business, expanding its product lines and distribution channels significantly. Its portfolio grew to include some of the most recognized frozen food brands in the United States, such as Red Baron®, Freschetta®, and Tony's® pizzas, Mrs. Smith's® and Edwards® desserts, and Pagoda® Asian-style snacks. The company's operations are structured into several key business units: Schwan's Consumer Brands, which markets and sells branded foods to retail grocery and club stores; Schwan's Food Service, which supplies food products to schools, universities, healthcare facilities, and restaurants; and Strategic Partner Solutions, which focuses on co-packing and private-label manufacturing for other food companies.

In 2019, Schwan's Company entered a new era when it became a subsidiary of CJ CheilJedang, a global food and bio-convergence company based in South Korea. This acquisition positioned Schwan's for further growth and expansion, particularly in the North American market, while aligning with CJ CheilJedang's vision of becoming a global lifestyle company. While the Schwan family sold a majority stake, they retained ownership of the original home-delivery business, which was later rebranded as Yelloh. Headquartered in Marshall, Minnesota, Schwan's Company continues to be a major employer with thousands of team members across the United States. The company maintains a strong focus on food quality, safety, and innovation, operating numerous manufacturing facilities and a state-of-the-art research and development center.
