We are seeking a skilled and innovative WordPress Developer to join our growing team and play an important role in managing and scaling our customers’ e-commerce website platform over a self-hosted WordPress.
You'll be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing custom WordPress solutions that serve thousands of active websites. This role offers the opportunity to work at scale, building automated systems and tools that directly impact our customers' online presence and business success.
What You'll Do:
- Custom WordPress development: Design and implement new WordPress websites or enhance existing ones, using plugins and creating custom themes from concept to completion, with a focus on automated processes to support thousands of websites
- Full-Stack development: Write clean, responsive code using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, integrate APIs and third-party tools, and seamlessly connect databases to WordPress components as needed
- Performance & SEO optimization: Optimize website speed and performance across our entire portfolio, implement SEO best practices, and maintain security standards to ensure all customer websites perform at their peak
- Scalable solutions development: Build and maintain automated deployment tools, content management systems, and standardized processes that enable efficient management of hundreds of restaurant websites
- Design implementation & visual excellence: Transform design mockups and wireframes into pixel-perfect WordPress implementations, ensuring exceptional visual quality and user experience with meticulous attention to typography, spacing, color accuracy, and responsive design details
- Quality assurance: Ensure all websites maintain consistent branding, functionality, and performance standards while accommodating unique requirements and customizations
- Technical problem solving: Identify, debug, and resolve technical issues efficiently, providing ongoing website maintenance and support for our large-scale infrastructure
- Cross-Functional collaboration: Work closely with product, customer success, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and transform them into functional, user-friendly websites that meet restaurant business needs
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of professional WordPress development experience with strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Proven experience with WordPress installation management (self-hosted)
- Proven experience in custom theme and plugin development, with a portfolio demonstrating WordPress projects
- Familiarity with restaurant industry needs, e-commerce solutions, or marketplace platforms
- Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, hooks, filters, and best practices for scalable development
- Strong eye for design and visual detail, with ability to implement pixel-perfect designs and ensure consistent visual quality across all websites and themes
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Experience with responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience with performance optimization techniques and SEO best practices
- Knowledge of automation tools and CI/CD pipelines for WordPress deployment
- Knowledge of REST APIs and third-party integrations (payment gateways, POS systems, marketing tools)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience working effectively with remote or distributed teams in a matrix environment
- Preferred:
- Experience with popular WordPress plugins / frameworks (W3 Total Cache, Yoast, etc.)
- Experience managing large-scale WordPress multisite / multi instance installations
- Understanding of web security best practices and WordPress security hardening
- Knowledge of website analytics and conversion optimization
- Experience with email/SMS marketing platform integrations
- Background in DevOps practices and server management
- Experience with cloud hosting platforms (Azure preferred)
- Experience with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch)
- Proficiency in MySQL database design and optimization
