About SafeLease

At SafeLease, we're rethinking how P&C insurance is sold in an age of technological change. We believe the industry's biggest inefficiencies aren't technical problems — they're structural ones. And we're building the team to tackle them.

SafeLease is a profitable insurance business that designs, underwrites, and distributes specialty coverage for commercial property owners and their tenants. Most insurance companies either distribute products or bear the risk — we do both. We back our policies with our own capital, which means we control the full stack: product design, tech, and the speed at which we move. That end-to-end ownership lets us offer customers real flexibility, saving time and money for more than 4,000 properties insured for billions in value nationwide.

We're a team of 70, growing over 100% annually, and we've done it without sacrificing profitability or culture. Here, you'll get high discretion and a wide aperture of problems to solve. We embrace the newest technologies, move fast together, and operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in.

Role Overview

We are hiring a versatile Claims Adjuster to join our small-but-mighty claims department. Reporting directly to the Director of Claims, this expanded role is responsible for handling a diverse, non-traditional risks and multi-line insurance portfolio. In addition to managing high volume personal property claims, specifically focusing on the contents of a claimant's storage unit, the successful candidate will evaluate and adjust commercial property and casualty (P&C) claims as well as specialized manufactured housing claims. This is a desk-based adjusting position focusing on streamlined digital processes.

This position will be remote but must be based in either Austin, Texas or the state of Nebraska.

About the Role

To drive our mission forward, this role will:

  • Lead Claims Resolution: Investigate, evaluate, and adjust a variety of property and casualty claims. This includes high volume personal property contents within storage units, commercial property losses, commercial casualty liabilities, and manufactured housing claims.

  • Drive Fair Settlements: Negotiate effectively and professionally with claimants, public adjusters, legal counsel, and third-party representatives to reach equitable, timely resolutions.

  • Ensure Accuracy: Process payments, issue settlements within designated authority limits, and maintain precise, up-to-date claim records to support operational excellence and strict regulatory compliance.

  • Tackle Complexity: Provide technical expertise and support for high-value, complex, or multi-faceted claims, ensuring thorough investigation and efficient handling.

  • Uphold Standards: Adhere to company policies, guidelines, state insurance regulations, and industry best practices while delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Operate Efficiently: Perform full desk-based adjusting, leveraging modern technology, digital documentation, and remote evaluation tools.

About You

The ideal candidate is an adaptable insurance professional who thrives in an agile environment and brings diverse, cross-functional technical expertise.

  • Commercial P&C Expertise: Proven track record in adjusting commercial property losses and commercial casualty/liability lines, including a strong understanding of commercial policy language, business interruption claims, and general liability exposures.

  • Manufactured Housing Experience: Direct experience handling claims related to manufactured housing, modular structures and unique policy endorsements.

  • Personal Property Knowledge: Experience adjusting high-volume personal property claims.

  • Licensing & Qualifications: Active Adjuster License in good standing (or ability to quickly obtain reciprocal licensing). A Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry designations (e.g., AIC, SCLA) is preferred.

  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of modern claims management systems (CMS), Google Workspace, digital estimating software, and remote on-line software tools.

Why SafeLease?

The tech: Our prospects convert fast because we’re solving real problems and delivering serious value to commercial real estate owners.

The team: We’re a team of seasoned pros and sharp operators who know how to move fast and build smart. High standards, low ego.

The stability: We’re well-funded, growing fast, and we make sure our team shares in that success with competitive pay and equity.

The employee experience: We also offer unlimited PTO, full health benefits, flexible work setups, and the kind of culture where people want to show up to do their best work.

If you don't have all the qualifications listed, don't worry! We understand everyone's career path is unique and still encourage you to apply if you feel this role is aligned with your career trajectory.

Employment at SafeLease is contingent upon a satisfactory verification of a general and criminal background check.
