We are seeking a creative and strategic internal communications professional to join RRD’s Corporate
Communications team. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful storyteller, a team player, and an advocate for
effective communications that strengthen organizations and positively impact the employee experience.

The Internal Communications Manager leads the development and execution of internal communications
strategies to deliver impactful messaging that reaches 30,000 employees across the organization. The
Manager plays a key role in engaging employees in ways that inspires action and creates connection to RRD’s

mission and goals.

The manager will collaborate across functions to align and support key business objectives and report to the
Vice President of Corporate Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute internal communication strategies that support company goals, values, and business objectives.
  • Own and manage the internal communications calendar to ensure alignment and on-time delivery of all communications
  • Write and edit compelling content for internal channels with clarity and consistency. Maintain authenticity in internal messaging, upholding the company’s voice, tone, and style.
  • Manage RRD’s global employee communications platform, implementing strategic initiatives (e.g. contests, newsletters, awards) to create opportunities for engagement and increased adoption.
  • Drive cross-functional communications with various stakeholders, collaborating with corporate departments, senior leaders, business units and other key personnel to promote high-value communications in support of departmental and Company strategic priorities.
  • Strengthen organizational connection and engagement among hourly employees by partnering with plant and HR leaders to drive localized initiatives and improve accessibility in internal communications.
  • Analyze performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal communications and leverage data to make recommendations for improvement
  • Act as a trusted advisor by staying informed on internal communications best practices and industry trends
  • Bachelor’s degree (Public Relations, English, Journalism, Communications)
  • 6+ years of experience in corporate or internal communications, or related field
  • Experience with communication management platforms (FirstUp, Staffbase, Workshop, Workvivo, etc.) preferable
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed, global organization a benefit
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to adapt tone and voice to suit the audience and/or stakeholder.
  • Natural storyteller with a demonstrated ability to turn complex information into narratives that inspire action and create connection.
  • Possess situational awareness and the ability to adapt approach or messaging appropriately
  • Strong understanding of communication and employee engagement best practices and experience with communication management platforms.
  • Ability to measure communications effectiveness, using data and feedback to improve content and increase employee engagement. (Experience with data analytics a benefit)
  • Critical and strategic thinking to align communication with business goals.
  • Expertise in managing and executing communications plans from concept to completion on-time and across various channels.
  • Collaborative and cross-functional communicator with strengths in building strong partnerships to drive alignment.
  • Proactive problem-solver, demonstrating a positive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • An empathetic and inclusive professional who takes ownership and accountability for one’s work

RRD's current salary range for this role is $84,100 to $134,600 / year. The salary range may be adjusted
based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the
future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and
compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency,
performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation
package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD’s benefit
offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with
company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental
leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts.

The story of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (RRD) begins in 1864 in Chicago, Illinois, when Richard Robert Donnelley, a Canadian immigrant, established a modest print shop. This venture, initially known as Church, Goodman, and Donnelley—Steam Printers, laid the groundwork for what would become a global leader in communications. Despite the devastating Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which destroyed the burgeoning business, Donnelley's resilience shone through. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, RRD steadily grew, driven by Richard Robert Donnelley's meticulous attention to both the artistic and scientific aspects of printing. In 1890, the firm was officially incorporated as R.R. Donnelley and Sons Company under the leadership of Richard's son, Thomas E. Donnelley. The company continued to innovate, establishing one of the first industrial training programs in the United States, the Apprentice Training School, in 1908, ensuring a skilled workforce for generations. The 20th century saw RRD adapt to new media, printing iconic magazines like Time, starting in 1928.
