About Range Mental Health Center
Range Mental Health Center (RMHC) was founded in 1961 as the first rural community mental health center in the United States, and the first in Minnesota specifically for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. RMHC has played a pioneering role, being the 16th community mental health center designated federally in the nation. Annually, RMHC serves over 2,500 adults, children, and families, covering a service area of northern St. Louis County, which spans over 6,800 square miles.
The center employs approximately 150 dedicated professionals, all committed to providing comprehensive integrated behavioral health services that promote productive and dignified living. RMHC specializes in outpatient services for both adults and children, community support services, and treatment for substance use disorders, available on both residential and outpatient bases. Additionally, RMHC provides crisis stabilization services at its Wellstone Center for Recovery, ensuring that mental health practitioners are available 24/7/365 for those in crisis.
