Role Overview
The Senior Datacap Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, development, support, and optimisation of IBM Datacap solutions within an IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation environment. The role supports a production platform hosted on Red Hat OpenShift and integrates with FileNet and Business Automation components.
The engineer will provide specialist expertise on a part-time, remote basis, ensuring platform stability, efficient document capture processing, and adherence to security and integration standards.
Key Responsibilities
Configure, develop, and maintain IBM Datacap 9.1.9 applications and workflows
Develop and enhance Datacap rules using Datacap Studio, FastDoc, and .NET (C#)
Support and integrate Datacap with FileNet Content Engine and Business Automation Navigator
Troubleshoot and resolve application, workflow, and performance issues
Support Datacap deployments within Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) environments
Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to ensure system availability and scalability
Manage database interactions with Microsoft SQL Server
Ensure secure access and authentication through LDAP / Active Directory and IAM controls
Provide remote production support, upgrades, and environment optimisation as required

Experience & Skills
3–5 years experience in IBM Datacap engineering and support
Strong understanding of containerised enterprise platforms
Experience supporting production automation environments
Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time engagement
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
Prior experience in government or revenue services environments
Exposure to OpenShift-based IBM Cloud Pak implementations
Knowledge of document capture best practices and optimisation
