We’re hiring a Financial Analytics Specialist (FAS) - a strategic thinker who uses data, models, and insights to optimize financial performance and guide business decisions. Unlike horizontal roles, this is a vertical role, embedded within departments or business units to analyze trends, forecast outcomes, and support smarter decision-making.

You’ll play a key role in shaping financial strategy by translating data into clear recommendations that drive investments, budgeting, and resource allocation. Whether supporting Operational FP&A (Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain) or Investment FP&A (M&A, ROI, capital projects), you’ll ensure the business operates with clarity, agility, and strategic foresight.

Accountability

As a Financial Analytics Specialist, your success will be defined by your ability to deliver forward-looking insights, accurate financial forecasts, and meaningful analysis that guides leadership decisions. You’ll blend technical excellence with strategic understanding - turning data into action and ensuring that the business not only knows where it stands but where it’s going.

Reporting, Forecasting & Budgeting – Standard & Ad-Hoc Reports

  • Design dashboards tailored to specific audiences and uncover trends that connect data to business activities.
  • Develop recurring and ad-hoc reports that translate numbers into actionable insights.
  • Enable self-service reporting and ensure complex financial data is presented with clarity and impact.

Reporting, Forecasting & Budgeting – Rolling Forecasts & Plans

  • Lead forecasting cycles and build rolling financial plans that adapt to change.
  • Challenge unrealistic assumptions and prepare multiple scenarios to improve decision-making.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align forecasts with operational and strategic objectives.

Modeling & Valuation – Financial Modeling

  • Develop structured, flexible, and advanced financial models to guide business strategy.
  • Build scenario-based models for rolling forecasts, investments, or acquisitions.
  • Clearly communicate trade-offs and model limitations to leadership.

Modeling & Valuation – Decision & Investment Analysis

  • Evaluate business opportunities using key financial metrics (ROI, IRR, NPV, payback).
  • Analyze pricing decisions, cost-saving initiatives, and investment cases with rigor and clarity.
  • Present findings with actionable insights, risk analysis, and strategic recommendations.

Business Partnering & Insight – Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, translating financial data into tactical and strategic insights.
  • Adapt communication styles for different audiences, ensuring alignment between financial and business goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, influencing strategy through data-backed perspectives.

Business Partnering & Insight – Strategic Insight & Decision Support

  • Deliver strategic insight by modeling complex scenarios and helping stakeholders understand value and risk.
  • Support C-suite and board-level discussions with forward-looking analysis and clarity on long-term impact.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that shape the organization’s direction and success.

Bonus skills

  • Experience driving automation initiatives, building data visualizations, and owning internal systems and processes.

You will work very closely with the client’s teams to ensure financial clarity, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.

At Oceans, you’ll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure you’re continuously developing your creative, analytical, and strategic capabilities.

Skills and Qualifications

At Oceans, we believe in T-shaped individuals—those who bring deep expertise in one area, paired with broad curiosity and collaboration. As a Financial Analytics Specialist, your vertical focus will be on financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical precision—translating data into strategic insight. Your horizontal focus will span cross-functional collaboration, communication, and strategic decision-making, connecting financial clarity to business impact.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: 4–7 years in FP&A, finance, analytics, or related roles.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced), Power BI, Tableau, or Anaplan.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong capability in forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, investments, and resource allocation decisions.
  • Communication: Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Mindset: Proactive, detail-oriented, and curious about uncovering “why” behind business trends.

Nice to have:

  • Tools: Experience with SQL, Looker, or other advanced analytics tools.
  • Exposure: Prior work in high-growth, data-driven, or consulting environments.
  • Leadership: Experience mentoring junior analysts or leading financial planning cycles.

Role Specifications

This is a remote role, where you will be expected to work a split shift with some overlap with our client’s time zone. You will, however, be expected to be present for in-person training programs during your first 90 days with us.
