About NextStep
NextStep connects top consulting talent with high-potential opportunities through smart, AI-powered matching. We partner with ambitious companies across sectors to place experienced professionals in roles where they can have a real impact. On behalf of a client in our partner network, we are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join their team.
About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing legaltech company headquartered in London, providing AI-powered contract management and legal workflow software to law firms and in-house legal teams across the UK and Europe. Series A backed with £18m raised, they have a strong product-market fit and are now scaling the commercial team to drive new logo acquisition aggressively. The founding team comes from Clifford Chance, Palantir, and McKinsey.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will be the primary driver of new business — owning a pipeline of law firm and enterprise prospects, managing the full sales cycle, and closing deals across mid-market and enterprise segments. You will work closely with the CEO and Head of Commercial to refine the sales approach and shape the go-to-market strategy.
What You'll Do
Own and manage a pipeline of qualified prospects across law firms and enterprise legal teams in the UK and Europe.
Lead end-to-end sales processes, from discovery and demo through to proposal, negotiation, and close.
Develop and execute outbound prospecting strategies to generate new opportunities in target segments.
Work with Marketing to optimise inbound lead flow and improve conversion at each stage of the funnel.
Feed deal learnings back into product and commercial strategy to sharpen the company's positioning.
What We're Looking For
4–7 years of experience in B2B sales or business development, with a track record of closing enterprise deals.
Strong outbound instincts, comfortable with cold outreach, building relationships from scratch, and creating pipeline without relying on inbound.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to engage credibly with senior legal professionals.
Organised and disciplined in pipeline management, using CRM data to drive decisions.
Experience selling into professional services, law, or regulated industries is a strong advantage.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary of £65,000 – £85,000, with uncapped commission on top.
OTE of £100,000 – £130,000 at target.
Equity options in a growing legaltech business.
Private health cover, pension, and hybrid working from London.
